A comparative study on curriculum of graduate schools of nursing in Korea and U.S.A.

Abstract
This study was conducted to analyze and compare curriculum in the graduate schools of nursing in Korea and U. S. A, and to get data for curriculum ogarnization in graduate school of nursing in Korea
The curriculums and bulletins from 12 graduate school of nursing in Korea and 11 graduate school of nursing in U. S. A gathered and analyzed.
The results of this study were as follows.
1. Among the 12 schools of nursing in Korea 8 graduate schools of nursing have educational objectives. Among the 11 schools of nursing in U S A gathered schools of nursing have showed their educational objectives in U. S A.
2. The educational objectives of the graduate schools of nursing according to the order of statement numbers in Korea were ¡¸acquiring theory and methods of research¡¹ , ¡¸comprehensive understanding and comparing of nursing theory¡¹ , and ¡¸cultivation of the ability as a nurse specialist¡¹ in U. S. A, they were ¡¸cultivation of the ability as a nurse specialist¡¹, ¡¸understanding and comparing of nursing theory¡¹ and ¡¸theory and methods of research¡¹
3. The common, specialization courses on master¡¯s program in Korea and U. S. A were adult health nursing, maternal-child nursing, psychiatric mental health nursing, community health nursing, nursing administration nursing informatics
4. The common core subjects of master¡¯s program were research methodology of nursing, theory of nursing, statistics in Korea and research theory and methodology in nursing, theory of nursing master¡¯s thesis in U. S. A
5. The common core subjects of doctoral program were analysis and development of nursing theory. quantitative research methodology of nursing, the statistics, analysis and development of nursing theory in U. S. A
